120212 - Costa Rica, Area de Conservacion (ACG), Volcan Rincon de la Vieja, 1100m

A dry drive up to Puesto Pailas. (The road is paved to Canon tours as of December 2011). No rain, but many many blackflies on the way up. Walked up from 7:40-8:30. Traps out at 9am. Saw tapir trackes, fresh at 1000m and heard toledo bird at 900m. Spider monkeys around site most of the day. Many Aphaenogaster, Hypoponera and Pheidole. The 42x21 gigapan taken between 5&6 - but lost several columns on the computer - rats!
